$75.00 15 minutes

A Single Status Certificate is an official document that confirms an individual is currently unmarried. It is often required when planning to get married abroad or submitting proof of marital status for international legal, immigration, or residency purposes. This certificate typically includes the individual’s full name, date of birth, and a sworn declaration that they are not presently married. It may be issued by a county clerk, state agency, or notarized as a sworn affidavit depending on the jurisdiction and destination country’s requirements. We provide professional apostille services with a standard processing time of 7–10 business days. Expedited options are also available, including a fast 2–3 business day turnaround, next-day service, and same-day service.

Document Overview

A Single Status Certificate is an official document that confirms an individual is currently unmarried. It is often required when planning to get married abroad or submitting proof of marital status for international legal, immigration, or residency purposes. This certificate typically includes the individual’s full name, date of birth, and a sworn declaration that they are not presently married. It may be issued by a county clerk, state agency, or notarized as a sworn affidavit depending on the jurisdiction and destination country’s requirements.

There are two types of documents that prove single status: Certificate of Search and Single Status Affidavit.

A Certificate of Search is an official government record issued by a county clerk or vital records office confirming that a search of marriage records was conducted and that no marriage was found for the individual during a specified period. This document is commonly requested by foreign governments because it is based on an official registry search rather than a personal declaration.

A Single Status Affidavit, on the other hand, is a sworn statement made by the individual declaring that they are currently single and have never been married (or are legally divorced or widowed, if applicable). This document must be prepared correctly and notarized to be accepted internationally. If we prepare your Single Status Affidavit, the cost for preparation and notarization is $150, ensuring the document is properly formatted, compliant, and ready for international use.
